we offer a variety of delicious freshly cooked meals daily. Our resident cook decides on the daily menu and you are welcome to book dinner with us on arrival. You can also book our Dinner Bed and Breakfast option on our bookings screen.

We have a variety of animals on the farm. There is our resident house cat Swazi (fattie) he is very friendly and enjoys being cuddled. We have a host of other animals such as dogs, cats, geese, chickens and horses on the farm.
They are all kept in the bottom part of the farm separated from the house by an electric fence. Due to this reason, we do not allow children under the age of 12.
Here at Cavalo we have 3 horses and offer horse rides on the farm. They are ridden daily and exercised. The horses are mainly used for show jumping and dressage. Below are pictures of Delarey the Percheron.
Delaey is an 18 year old Percheron that I owned for many years, he is 15h and is a joy to ride, he loves to go on out-rides and being fed carrots. Rey lives on another property and enjoy his life with his new owner.
We offer horse riding on our farm. If you like to book a ride please complete the attached contact form. We charge R500 per ride, and indemnity form is to be signed and payment is made with a credit card only. George our groom will take you through the basics if you are a new rider. Warmblood room is an upstairs room with a balcony overlooking the property, the room is comfortable and airy, you can sleep with the doors open and enjoy the cool air. The room has an en-suite bathroom and all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay
Our Friesian room is the premium room in the guesthouse, it is a large room with a lounge area and private patio area which overlooks the property and stables. The room has a queen size bed, tea and coffee station, en-suite bathroom, electric blankets and many other amenities.
Our Percheron Room is light and airy, the room has a private patio that overlooks the garden. The Rate includes a stunning full English Breakfast. The room has electric blankets, tea and coffee en-suite bathroom and 100% cotton linen.
Our Thoroughbred room is a small room that has the necessities, double bed, desk, cupboard, tea and coffee station and a beautiful en-suite bathroom.
After many years of dreaming about owning a home for my horses Cavalo became a reality. Cavalo means horse in Portuguese. This beautiful property is located in picturesque Drummond in Kwa-Zulu Natal. Close to the Hammarsdale and Cato Ridge industrial area Cavalo is a great place to stay over on business.
The guesthouse has been furnished with antiques and pre-loved furniture from just about the whole of South Africa, we have carefully hand picked each item within the house. We are sure you will find our furnishings comfortable and homely.
Being an equestrian the home is primarily the horses domain, we have 4 horses, Lija van Aveleden – Dutch Friesian, Aillin Star – SA Warmblood; Sovereigns Captain – Thoroughbred (race winner); Sushi lady – Thoroughbred – she has never raced and is a baby only 3 years old. While they are majestic animals they are to be respected as they can be dangerous due to their incredible size.
