Sustainability

We are, where possible, tying to reduce our carbon footprint, todate we have reinvested into the guesthouse to bring you our guest all the comforts you need whether you are working or relaxing. We installed solar panels onto our roof as well as an inverter system to ensure that our house stays powered during the loadshedding times. This also reduces our need for Eskom power thereby enabling other homes better power.

We have also installed a water tank to ensure that the water supply is not interupted. This is a backup water system as the pipes in the Drummond area are tempramental.

Due to the solarpanels running on the farm we are unable to install airconditioners or electric heaters. Therefore each of our rooms have ceiling fans and electric blankets which work incredibly well. There is a firepit on the farm for those wintery evening, enjoy a glass of port while watching the blazing fire.

New Horses

This has been a busy week on the farm with my prized warmblood mare being moved to another yard to continue her horse career and welcoming two new beautiful horses to our property. We have Finn the thoroughbred and Jeff the Appaloosa, they both love carrots and are wonderful to ride. If you fancy a ride please book with reception.,

Conferences/Meetings

If you are looking to host a meeting away from the office, you can contact us to arrange to have your meeting with us, We have a fully interactive television which will link to your laptop remotely. We can host up to 12 delegates, we have 4 bedrooms and can sleep 9 people with sharing.

Our rate for a meeting is on special for this year at R7500 for the venue per day, this will include, welcome snacks with tea and coffee or Juice. A sumptous luncheon including sandwiches, snacks, fruit and then a hearty dinner which will include a 2 course meal, with juice. Alcohol not included.

Animals on the Farm

We have a variety of animals on the farm. There is our resident house cat Swazi (fattie) he is very friendly and enjoys being cuddled. We have a host of other animals such as dogs, cats, geese, chickens and horses on the farm.

They are all kept in the bottom part of the farm separated from the house by an electric fence. Due to this reason, we do not allow children under the age of 12.

Horse Riding

Here at Cavalo we have 4 horses and offer horse rides on the farm. They are ridden daily and exercised. The horses are mainly used for show jumping and dressage. Below are pictures of Delarey the Percheron who was dearly loved however he sadly passed away in 2023.

We allow anybody wanting to experience to joy of a horse to ride, if you are a new rider then we have a 35 x 70m sand arena which is raked regularly where you can learn to ride and gain some confidence before leaving the property to go on an outride.

We offer horse riding on our farm. If you like to book a ride please complete the attached contact form. We charge R500 per ride, and indemnity form is to be signed and payment is made with a credit card only. George our groom will take you through the basics if you are a new rider. Rules at the farm regarding horseriding

Weight limit 100kg – George might ask you how much you weigh, please dont take offence.
No open toe shoes, closed shoes to be worn around the stables
Helmets to be worn when riding
Jeans or jodpurs a must when riding, riding in shorts will cause chaffing
Horse can bite! Horses do kick!
Horses love carrots and apples
Horses are unpredictable so riding is therefore at your own risk.
Indemnity must be signed before riding

Warmblood Room

Warmblood room is an upstairs room with a balcony overlooking the property, the room is comfortable and airy, you can sleep with the doors open and enjoy the cool air. The room has an en-suite bathroom and all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The theme of the room is flowers, most of the furniture is antique and are treasures collected over the years. there are painting in the room which were painted by myself and I hope you enjoy them.

This room has a dstv connection and each room has a smart tv. There is a full workstation where you can work from home.
